Upper Canada Village
Canada in the 1800s
Life in Canada in the 1800s was not easy. Early settlers had to be resourceful to find ways to clear the land, grow their crops and stay warm throughout the long winter months. It is fascinating to learn about their everyday life, their traditions and how they overcame the great obstacles before them.
Upper Canada Village is a town stuck in time. While the world rushes on outside its boundaries, the residents here enjoy the slower pace of a bygone era. Actors in costumes narrate their lives, allowing time for questions and tastings.

Today we will travel south to the St Lawrence River.
Upper Canada Village is a museum town stuck in the 1860s. Here you will be able to learn about life in Canada as it was over 150 years ago. Each house in town has a purpose. Visit the farm, the Dr's office, the mill, the print, the carpenter's workshop and much more
After lunch we continue our tour at the Chrysler Battlefield of the war of 1812. Here, a British and Canadian force won a victory over a US force which greatly outnumbered them. The US defeat prompted them to abandon the St. Lawrence Campaign, their major strategic effort in the autumn of 1813.
