Today we will travel to Lake Ontario, one of the five great lakes of North America.
The town of Kingston was Canada's first capital, chosen for its unique geographical location between Montreal and Toronto. We will meet our local history expert for an insider's view of the quaint colonial town, cobblestone streets, Victorian mansions, and one of Canada's most prestigious universities, Queens University.
After lunch along the splendid banks of Lake Ontario, we continue to the private residence of Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. MacDonald for a private look into the life of the founding father of this great nation.
Kingston was Canada's first Capital city. It sits on Lake Ontario, at the mouth of the Cataraqui and St. Lawrence rivers.
Kingston is known as the "Limestone City" for its grand 19th-century buildings, including the lakeside Kingston City Hall. This city has lots to show: Bellevue House (Canada's first prime minister, Sir John A. Macdonald's house), Fort Henry, the Penitentiary Museum and much more.
