Canoe Camping

An unforgettable experience

As human beings, we’re wired for wonder; we feel compelled to stop and soak up the sunset or gaze up at the stars — and there’s no better place to do that than camping.

Canoeing, hiking, and campfires. Swimming, sports and getting away from it all. Camping is an ideal way of accomplishing all of these fun and exciting activities all-in-one.

When you join us we take all the hard work of planning a destination and route, getting camping gear, renting canoes and life jackets, organizing food, transportation... On top of it all, a certified instructor will teach you the basics of Canoeing, so no experience is necessary! All you have to do is sign up and enjoy.

Day by Day

Day 1

Leave Ottawa in the morning, relax and get ready for a memorable experience.  Arrive to Lac Poisson Blanc and get acquainted with the beauty of the place.

Learn the basics of flat water canoeing (or what is the same canoeing in a lake). After a couple of practice runs and once you feel ready, we will pack our belongings in our canoes, board them in a safe way and we'll get started! Putting to practice what you just learned, we will paddle to our camp site, on an island of course!

After arriving to our island we will pitch our tents (if you have never done it, we will show you and help you put it up) and enjoy a beautiful afternoon. Go for a swim, chat with friends or simply absorb the tranquility and peacefulness of your surroundings. We can also grab the canoe and explore the many picnic areas in other islands.

Tonight you will learn how to cook in a campfire and enjoy a delicious meal that you helped to prepare!

Day 2

Wake up, have some breakfast and let's keep exploring the area. Today's activities will include a hike to a lookout spot and some more canoeing. You will have free time to play sports, go for a swim or relax with a book by the shore.

We depart for Ottawa around 3 PM.

What our customers say:

"Round Tours is an amazing company. I have taken their trips skiing, to Montreal, and soon to Toronto. Every time I travel with Round Tours I feel valued and cared for. Carlos and Charlotte seem passionate about what they do, and they truly care that you are having a good time. When visiting Montreal my friend and I were thinking of visiting a museum, but we did not have wifi to check the museums in the area. Charlotte was very kind by personally searching for the best museums and directing us how to get there. This is just one of many examples of how Carlos and Charlotte demonstrate how much they care for you.
The sizing of the tours with Round Tours is absolutely perfect. For the most part all of our groups have been around 50 people, but many times it was less than 50 people. This means that you are able to get a personalized tour of each city. The structure of the tours are good for people who like to do their own thing and for people who want to stay in a group. By providing a loose itinerary with local tour guides, you can truly make the experience unique to your liking. I highly recommend Round Tours to anyone thinking of traveling outside of Ottawa. It is especially good for international students, because the quality of the trips are amazing and the trips are priced nicely. Round Tours is an amazing company with a truly nice and caring staff.
