1000 Islands Adventure

Discover the 1000 Islands region

This trip has it all: contact with nature, city walks, historic sites and an amazing boat tour experience. Gaze at stunning vistas  of the Thousand Islands region from the top of a mountain and from a boat.

Thousand Islands is a half-submerged ancient mountain range that appears above the St. Lawrence river’s surface as a winding archipelago of islands of vastly different sizes.

Discover how massive movements of the Earth’s crust formed the region’s unique landscapes.

The Thousand Islands have been welcoming visitors for more than a century. There are castles, mansions, yachts and lighthouses to admire while on our boat cruise of this unique area.

Our itinerary, day by day

Today we travel on the great St. Lawrence river.  Connecting Canada's great lakes with the the Atlantic ocean, the river traverses the provinces of Ontario and Quebec, and is also the international border between Canada and the United States.
We will depart from downtown Ottawa and head to the 1000 Islands region.

Our first stop will be at an important Biosphere Reserve in Ontario. Get in contact with nature and explore an area so ecologically rich that the Smithsonian Institute made a study plot in it.  The chosen trail for our hike meanders through woodlands and takes you through bridges and lookout spots where you will marvel at the island-jewelled river. Wondering about the beautiful and steep rolling hills in the background? They are the Adirondack Mountains of New York State!

After  viewing the area from atop we will head to the town of Rockport, where we will board our cruise ship for a tour of the thousand islands region. The views are breathtaking, and the architectural marvels that have been constructed on the islands are a sight to be seen.
After our boat ride, we continue our adventure to the picturesque town of Brockville, which has been named "The City of the Thousand Islands" and is one of the oldest communities in the area. You will be amazed by how close the United States is! Here you will also be able to walk on the very first Canadian railway tunnel, now one of Brockville's top attractions.

At around 4.30 pm we will get back on our bus and head back to Ottawa.

What our customers say about us:

Round Tours is an amazing company. I have taken their trips skiing, to Montreal, and soon to Toronto. Every time I travel with Round Tours I feel valued and cared for. Carlos and Charlotte seem passionate about what they do, and they truly care that you are having a good time. When visiting Montreal my friend and I were thinking of visiting a museum, but we did not have wifi to check the museums in the area. Charlotte was very kind by personally searching for the best museums and directing us how to get there. This is just one of many examples of how Carlos and Charlotte demonstrate how much they care for you.

The sizing of the tours with Round Tours is absolutely perfect. For the most part all of our groups have been around 50 people, but many times it was less than 50 people. This means that you are able to get a personalized tour of each city. The structure of the tours are good for people who like to do their own thing and for people who want to stay in a group. By providing a loose itinerary with local tour guides, you can truly make the experience unique to your liking. I highly recommend Round Tours to anyone thinking of traveling outside of Ottawa. It is especially good for international students, because the quality of the trips are amazing and the trips are priced nicely. Round Tours is an amazing company with a truly nice and caring staff.
